Sorry GeorgeWW, you don’t have the background to be able to say other groups don’t target (hate) black women. Poll black women and you will get your answer. I have dated interracially all of my life (I’ve only dated two black men) and many a white man that I haven’t dated has approached me speaking to me in a disrespectful way (sexually) assuming I would just hop in bed with them because they stereotype black women as permiscuous. Ditto for sexual harassment in the workplace that they wouldn’t even attempt against a white woman. Many men and women outside the black race have been extremely surprised that I don’t have children or children out of wedlock. Another stereotype. I can tell you that even men who think they are “openminded” enough to date outside their race, aren’t always. When things are great and there are no pressures on the relationship, then they are openminded. That can quickly change when others and other situations put an man of another race in a situation of having to back up his views on being with a black woman. In other words, if friends, family, bosses or even total strangers challenge him or harass his woman, I have first hand experience of their not being able to stand up to this and back up their woman. There are stereotypes against all types of people, but my point is that the stereotypes that follow black women are mostly negative ones compared to other types of women and they are perpetuated by men, women, black, white, asian… And it is sad and while it is not my issue to solve (be more cheerful, be less sexual…), it impacts me regularly so I must address it constantly. Some people are very aware that they are doing this stereotyping (vindictive people, power trips, jealous…) and some aren’t even aware that they are doing it. And until we acknowledge, as a people, that there are differing stereotypes and that they aren’t actual truth, the black woman will continue to hold the highest U.S. Census statistic of having never been married AND never had children. We are not wanted by many.

AMEN! Growing up in all white neighborhoods and schools, I have been harassed out of jobs because of my marital status of single (by white women), my race (by white women and men) and sexually (by white men.) I am accomplished and everyone says I should be married with children and the problem must be mine instead of the UGLY TRUTH that very few men of ANY color want black women (perhaps black men in the South do but I don’t live there). White women think they are better than me and I need their help (interference) and when I respectfully decline it – RETALIATION and people coming to THEIR defense, not mine. Even though I am being harassed, all of a sudden the rejected harasser is the victim that the angry black female is being mean to. White women CHARM men in the door and are spiteful, manipulative, cunning and crazed in the divorce court. Let’s not even discuss it’s ok for them to have children out of wedlock (“they’ve had hard lives”) but let a sister do that – she is permiscuous, lazy and a gold digger. WAKE UP MEN OF ALL COLORS – you are not respectfully judging an individual woman one at a time for her character. You are stereotyping and some very good nice, kind black women are being tossed aside with no one having their back when they are harassed/discriminated against, while we have to hear horror stories of your exes hurting you, and sometimes even bail you out (male siblings, parents…). WAKE UP!

Black women come in a variety of skin colors and hair textures. Many of us have naturally long and thick hair. I hate when people assume that I have a weave, because I am brown skinned. This mindset needs to change.

This is bullshit.

Off top the writer is biased and obviously carries his/her own prejudicial views as similar to some of the comments I have read.

I’m white, very white actually….almost Irish-Pink (laugh), here’s the deal. I don’t think it’s an issue of another group hating black women or only seen as objects. I think it’s cultural and perpetual profiling from centuries ago that has evolved yet still exist today, but black men also help perpetuate this insanity.

Now, I know this is going to piss off some people, particularly black men.

Most black guys appear to shame black women while generally epitomizing white women and other races. This is true. I have a diverse group of friends and I’m telling you it’s true. There are just to many borderline black guys out there that do not respect their own community, and please read between the lines on this one. I see more black guys that tell black women that white men only want them for sex as opposed to white men who have actually made that statement. Think about it. On the flip side, we could look at white women that date black guys, could we also say that white women are loose-trash and generally covet a myth of “dark” equates to “large penis.”

White men have been given the title as “Corner-Market Whores of Racism”. It’s not so, people. Sure we have racist out there, but white men are also non-racist as well.
Where is this obsession to pit Black Women against White Men coming from??? sheesh!

Seems like a sista just can’t win. Now we have the phenomenon of brothas travelling to Rio de Janeiro to get with sistas who have that exotic mixed look and have that “real good hair”. I feel for the young black girls growing up becuz they are still learnin that black is beautiful as long as in a VERY diluted form.

Hello Everyone, My name is Suesie, my mother is black, my mother’s father is white. My father is black, my father’s father is white. My grandfather came from France. So what does that make me. My children’s father’s is half Mexican so what does that make him? Unfortunately, I cannot recall being from Africa just like most white people that at one generation at a time lived there. I believe that all “African Americans” have some form of white in them. And if this is not true then show me a native African American the looks like an African. You can’t find one. Native Africans have a different head shape and body shape; everything is noticeably different. So, do I deny my grandfather who left me heritance, do i deny my slave grandmother who gave me dignity? No, I deny society dictating to me ugly definitions of classes and races and how they need be defined. And regarding the attitude, we African -American women are the only people on earth that have endured unbearable pains/barriers and rose to the mountain top, and everyone sees it and realizes it. No female on earth has done things like Harriet Tubman, etc. Any person who hates on us has a reason to, because everyone can’t hang with us in a relationship. And regarding the attitude yes, I definitely am proud to let a brother know that I am special and if he wants my time, then he needs to step his game up. Because I strive to be the best to others and I want it in return. Now, compare that to white girls (and believe me I know, because I was raised in an all white, golfing neighborhood). They charm a man in the door and then show them the attitude in the divorce court!

That’s true that some of our brothas don’t like fake hair and obsess over light-skinned and biracial sistas. But, ultimately, who is controlling the images of women? Mostly white men. They only pick Black women who conformed to their stupid, Barbie-doll ideal, i.e. white northern european. It’s ironic because most white women are imitating Black women, yet they deny the fact that they want to look Black. But in reality, they do. What that tells you about white folks?
